Aziz Moradi
Aziz Moradi (April 14, 1976 – October 12, 2022)
Aziz Moradi, a resident of Sanandaj and the owner of the “Gol Gandom” restaurant, was killed on the evening of October 12, 2022, during the nationwide “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests in the Naysar neighborhood of Sanandaj. According to published reports, Iranian regime forces opened direct fire on him with live Kalashnikov ammunition from close range, striking him in the thigh and abdomen.
After being severely wounded, Aziz Moradi was transferred to medical centers for treatment, but he later died due to the severity of his injuries. His killing took place during the protests that erupted across Iran following the state killing of Jina Amini. Reports indicate that he was targeted solely for participating in protests and expressing support for freedom and justice.
Family members, friends, and many people remember Aziz Moradi as one of the fallen voices of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement — an unarmed civilian who lost his life in the face of violent repression. His name continues to be remembered alongside other victims of the protests, with ongoing calls for truth, justice, and accountability.
