Lina Namvar was a 21-year-old fitness coach and athlete from Tehran, Iran. Known for her dedication to sports and her active lifestyle, she was among a generation of young Iranians who hoped for a better future, greater freedom, and the opportunity to live with dignity and choice.
In September 2022, following the death of Jina (Mahsa) Amini in police custody, widespread protests erupted across Iran. Like many other citizens, Lina joined a public gathering at Third Tehranpars Square in Tehran on October 2, 2022.
According to reports and accounts published by activists and observers, security forces confronted protesters and used live ammunition during the demonstrations. It is reported that Lina Namvar was shot during the crackdown and died from her injuries that same day. She was only 21 years old.

Some accounts further state that her family faced restrictions regarding public discussion of the circumstances surrounding her death. It has also been reported that her sister openly spoke about the manner of Lina's killing during mourning ceremonies and at her gravesite, calling attention to what had happened.
