Farzin Farkhi: A Young Man Who Succumbed to His Injuries After Ten Days
Farzin Farkhi was a 25-year-old cabinet maker from the Saadi neighborhood of Saqqez, Kurdistan Province. He had been engaged to be married for about a year before his life was cut short.
On September 30, 2022, during the nationwide protests that followed the death of Jina (Mahsa) Amini, Farzin participated in demonstrations in Saqqez. During the protests, he was reportedly shot by Iranian security forces and seriously wounded.
Because of the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to a hospital in Tabriz, where he remained hospitalized for approximately ten days while receiving treatment. Despite medical efforts, his condition continued to deteriorate.
On October 10, 2022, Farzin Farkhi died from the injuries he had sustained. News of his death was published by local sources on October 11, 2022, confirming that he had succumbed to his wounds after days of hospitalization.
Farzin was laid to rest at Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez, where family members, friends, and members of the local community gathered to bid him farewell.
Farzin Farkhi is remembered as one of the individuals who lost his life as a result of the 2022 nationwide protests in Iran—a young man whose future, career, and personal aspirations came to an abrupt end at the age of 25.
