Mohammad Hossein Salari (November 24, 1998 – November 5, 2022)

Mohammad Hossein Salari, a 24-year-old young man from Mahshahr in Iran's Khuzestan Province, was among those who took part in the nationwide protests of 2022.
On November 5, 2022, during the protests in Mahshahr, he was shot in the leg. According to accounts from his family, friends, and published reports, security forces created an atmosphere of fear and prevented people from taking him to a medical center in time. Eventually, his friend Mohsen Tahmasebi managed to transport him to the hospital, but due to severe blood loss, medical efforts were unsuccessful, and Mohammad Hossein died from his injuries.
Following his death, his family and relatives reported being subjected to pressure and intimidation by security authorities. According to these accounts, they were pressured to state that his death had resulted from causes other than a gunshot wound. Reports also indicate that his body remained under the control of the authorities for a period of time, and that he was buried under restrictions, without the possibility of holding a public funeral.
Mohsen Tahmasebi, the friend who took Mohammad Hossein to the hospital, was later arrested. According to reports from his relatives and human rights organizations, he was subjected to severe pressure and torture while in detention.
Mohammad Hossein Salari is regarded by many protesters and civil society activists as one of the victims of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement. His name continues to be remembered by many people, especially in Mahshahr. His family, friends, and supporters continue to commemorate his life and call for the truth about the circumstances of his death to be established and for those responsible to be held accountable.
