Iman Mohammadi

Iman Mohammadi (September 30, 1989 – September 21, 2022)

Iman Mohammadi was born on September 30, 1989in Eslamabad-e Gharb, a city in Kermanshah Province, Iran. He grew up in a large family, living with his mother, two brothers, and four sisters. After completing high school, he began working as a laborer to help support his family and contribute to their daily living expenses.
Following the death of Mahsa (Jina) Amini in September 2022, nationwide protests spread across Iran, profoundly affecting cities and towns throughout the country, including the predominantly Kurdish regions of Kermanshah Province. On September 21, 2022, Iman Mohammadi joined thousands of protesters who gathered in the streets of Eslamabad-e Gharb to express their demands.
As demonstrators marched toward the Governor's Office, security forces positioned on the rooftop of the government building opened fire on the crowd. During the shooting, Iman Mohammadi was struck by a live bullet in the shoulder, causing severe bleeding. Bystanders rushed him to the hospital in an attempt to save his life, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
Following his death, Iman's body remained in the custody of security authorities for several days. Only after repeated efforts and persistent requests by his family was his body finally returned to them. He was laid to rest on September 27, 2022, under heavy security surveillance, at Bagh-e Rezvan Cemetery in Eslamabad-e Gharb.
Iman Mohammadi was only 32 years old. A hardworking young man devoted to supporting his family, his life was cut short during one of the most significant waves of nationwide protests in Iran's contemporary history. Although his life ended under tragic circumstances, his name continues to be remembered by his family, friends, and many who recall the events of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising.
In memory of Iman Mohammadi—one of the lives lost during Iran's 2022 nationwide protests—his story remains a testament to a young man whose life ended amid the turmoil of those historic days, leaving behind a legacy that endures in the collective memory of many.
