Mohammad Reza Bali Lashk

Mohammad Reza Bali Lashk (July 26, 1975 – November 1, 2022)

In the small city of Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, tense days unfolded alongside nationwide protests. Among the names that remained in the memory of the city’s residents is that of محمدرضا بالی لاشک (Mohammad Reza Bali Lashk), a hardworking man who drove a taxi and was the father of two children, whose life was closely tied to daily labor and responsibility.
According to accounts from that period, on November 1, 2022, he was present at a memorial ceremony held in honor of one of the victims of the protests in Nowshahr. The gathering was described as a space filled with grief, anger, and collective solidarity, part of a broader series of commemorations connected to the protests of that time.
On that day, after the ceremony ended, clashes reportedly broke out between some attendees and security forces. In the midst of this situation, various accounts suggest that Mohammadreza entered the scene after witnessing an altercation between authorities and several young people, attempting to intervene or calm the situation. This moment marked the beginning of an incident that would ultimately lead to his death.
Subsequently, according to reports and statements from his family and local witnesses, he was subjected to severe physical confrontation. While attempting to withdraw from the scene, he was again involved in the incident. Some accounts mention the use of crowd-control measures such as pepper spray or tear gas during the confrontation. He was seriously injured and was transferred to the hospital.
Despite medical efforts, his condition was reported as critical, and he eventually passed away. The news marked the beginning of a painful period for his family and close relatives, especially his two children, who were left to cope with the aftermath.
In family and local narratives, he is remembered as a calm, responsible, and helpful person—someone who, even in that critical moment, entered the situation with the intention of assisting others.
In the years that followed, his memory remained present among parts of the people of Nowshahr as one of the figures whose name became intertwined with the turbulent days of that period. For his family, his belongings and clothing remain a tangible reminder of a loss that is not easily expressed in words.
