Nima Nouri
Nima Nouri(April 16, 2004 – November 3, 2022)
Nima Nouri was born on April 16, 2004, in Karaj. He was an 18-year-old and the only child of his family. He was described as kind, simple, and deeply interested in cars and driving. He had completed his high school diploma.
In the months leading up to his death, Nima had become increasingly aware of the social and political developments in Iran during the 2022 protests. Despite his family’s concerns, he participated in demonstrations on multiple occasions. In one instance, he returned home injured after being struck with batons by security forces, which left him struggling to walk for several days. He had also expressed, in a message to a social media page, his willingness to sacrifice his life for “homeland and freedom.”
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, during the 40th-day memorial ceremonies for Hadis Najafi and other victims of the protests, Nima set out with his father toward Behesht-e Sakineh cemetery in Karaj. Due to heavy traffic and congestion near the cemetery, he separated from his father and decided to continue on foot.
Later that day, amid clashes between protesters and security forces, Nima was shot. According to reports, two bullets struck his chest and thigh. Bystanders initially transported him to Vesal Clinic in Karaj, but due to severe blood loss, he was transferred to Shahid Madani Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he died the same day.
His family was informed hours later. At first, they were told he was undergoing surgery, but late that night they received confirmation of his death. The news left his family in deep shock and grief.
Following his death, authorities did not immediately return his body to the family, which further intensified their distress. Several days later, his funeral was held under heavy security measures on November 9, 2022, at Behesht-e Ali cemetery in Eshtehard.
On what would have been his birthday, family members and relatives gathered at his gravesite to commemorate him. They honored his memory through songs and shared remembrance.
Nima Nouri’s death, alongside many others during the protests, reflects the استمرار violence during that period. Despite widespread repression, demonstrations continued across Iran, and the number of victims kept rising.
